Fort Myers, FL (July 25, 2019) – The Club at Gateway in Fort Myers, FL received the Best of Fort Myers Gold Award for “Best Private Golf Course & Country Club.”
The Awards Ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at The Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Fort Myers. The News-Press presented the awards to the recipients. This distinguished award recognizes businesses with excellence in product, performance or services.
Several individuals from the Club at Gateway attended the event in hopes of possibly winning, including Don Garrett, Club Owner and his wife Jamie, Jimmy Lynn, Operating Partner and his wife Jeannine, Matt Malloy, General Manager and his wife Kristy and MJ Chappy, Membership & Marketing Director. “We are so honored to have won this award. Our Club is a very special place because of our Members and all our dedicated employees,” stated Don.
So much has changed at The Club at Gateway. Less than two years ago, the Club became privately owned, but remained a private club. Under new ownership, Florida Lifestyle Management Group, owned by Don Garrett has committed close to $6 million to renovate the Club with no assessments to Members.
The Club was rebranded shortly after the sale with their new name and logo. Pickleball and bocce courts were quickly built for members to enjoy.
In July, construction begun on the new 300 seat dining facility. The second level fitness center will be built, complete with separate spin and aerobics rooms, as well as, new cardio, weight and TRX training. The new resort style pool will feature a zero entry area, water features, lap lanes and a 16 seat outdoor bar. The new display exhibition kitchen will be equipped with wood burning pizza ovens and grills. Another first class feature will be a 1,600 bottle glass wine cellar in the lobby area and a private wine room for dining and entertaining. A playground has also been added to the plans for children to enjoy. Renovations are expected to be completed in February of 2020. Club amenities, tennis, pickleball, bocce, fitness center and pool including dining in the Grille Room remain open for Member enjoyment during the renovations.
