FORT MYERS, Fla. – Alan Morin, PGA Assistant Golf Professional at The Falls Country Club in Lake Worth captured his 3rd E-Z-GO South Florida Open title defeating defending champion Justin McCarraher, Apprentice at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers.  Morin and McCarraher shared the lead after two rounds heading into the final round today at The Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers. It was Morin who would go on to clinch the title by three shots after shooting 68 in the final round. This was the 31st annual South Florida PGA Open contested which would not have been possible without the support of presenting partners E-Z-GO and Seminole Casino Immokalee along with supporting partners by 2UNDR, Antigua, JaniKing and Tom Tom.

Morin’s final round was highlighted by an eagle on the second hole and five birdies as he pulled away with the lead. Morin fired a 66 and 69 in rounds one and two.  This event marked the second major of the year earning Morin 300 points in the Omega Player of the Year point’s race. 

One hundred and fifty PGA Professionals and amateurs competed in the three day event which was contested at Gateway Golf and Country Club and The Club at Renaissance.  The first two rounds were contested at both facilities and the final round was played at The Club at Renaissance.  After the second round the field was cut to the top 40% with 47 professionals and 9 amateurs competing in the final round.

Derron Peyton of Boynton Beach was the low amateur with a 212, tied for 9th overall.  In addition to the championship division 35 individuals competed in the two day senior championship. South Florida PGA Life Member Mike San Filippo of Hobe Sound claimed the senior division title firing a two day total of 138.  San Filippo was the 2013 open division champion.
