THE MAJORS
Gateway is a place to make lifelong friends with a common interest in Golf.
MEMBER-MEMBER
The season’s first major! The event is flighted and consists of four nine-hole matches played over two days. The format for the matches is: better ball, scramble, alternate shot, and, finally, a second better ball. Winners from all flights then participate in a "shootout." Club members are encouraged to take golf carts out on the course to observe the shootout and congratulate the eventual champions. The event ends with an special awards presentation followed by a festive dinner-dance.
HOG ROAST SCRAMBLE
The Club's only individual match play tournament; the Hog Roast Scramble is the largest golf tournament of the year. Members are paired by handicap in an A, B, C, D grouping and couples cannot play together; this is a great way to get to know others with whom you might not typically play. After the round of golf, everyone meets in the clubhouse for the
HOG, which is cooked in a HUGE smoker on the back patio, while everyone is golfing. This is the favorite meal of the year!!!
FAZIO CUP
The Fazio Cup is the club’s only match play tournament. It is played over two weekends to allow for maximum participation. The event is flighted and the competition is fierce. The Fazio Cup overall champion comes from the championship flight.
MEN'S INVITATIONAL
The men’s invitational is the gentlemen’s showcase of the year. We typically hold 60 two-player teams, who play three days of golf. There is an opportunity to meet new people, experience some friendly competition, and enjoy the camaraderie that can only be found among individuals who truly love the game of golf. Every contestant leaves this event with fond memories and in need of a few days rest!!!
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
This is the final major tournament of the year— “Glory’s Last Shot.” The championships are played over two days. The event is flighted and the overall winner is the individual who shoots the lowest 36-hole total. Upon completion of the event, we hold a “Toast to the Champions” where we recognize the season's major winners over a few cocktails. This is a great night and a very nice way for the season to fade away.
