Golfing at Gateway
Come for the World-Class Golf......Stay for the warm, welcoming Lifestyle.
In addition to being a great championship venue, Gateway Golf & Country Club is designed with the discerning member in mind. The course features six sets of tees, including senior tees for both ladies and gentlemen, generous fairways, cape cod-style bunkering, and putting surfaces that are often described as some of the finest Bermuda grass greens in the state. The Ron Garl designed "Golf Improvement Practice Facility" is second-to-none, boasting a double-sided range, first class short-game area, fantastic putting green, and two practice holes, a par 3 and par 4, which members describe as two of the most challenging holes on the property. And as we are NOT a bundled golf community, Club membership is entirely an optional lifestyle enrichment to your home ownership. You will never have trouble getting on the course, even in season. (Nor do we have the limiting Chelsea System that so many bundled community homeowners have told us that they come to despise.)
BOBBY CLAMPETT "IMPACT ZONE" GOLF ACADEMY AT GATEWAY
Renowned PGA Tour player, Champions Tour player, golf instructor and commentator, Bobby has earned the accolade of being a Master Professional Of Teaching and Coaching with the PGA of America, the highest teaching credential members of the PGA of America can achieve. Additionally, in 2013/14 Bobby was rated in the Golf Digest poll “The Best Teachers In Your State, As Rated By Their Peers” as one of the top instructors in Florida.
In January of 2014, we celebrated the 25th Anniversary. In its inaugural season, 1989, the course debuted on the Golf Digest list of Top 100 Courses. This recognition earned Gateway the privilege of hosting the 1990 Ben Hogan Tour Gateway Open, won by Ted Tryba, and the 1991 Ben Hogan Tour Gateway Open, won by Gary McCord—his only professional victory until he became a winner on the Champions Tour in 1999. February 2014 marked the 25th edition of the Gateway Senior Invitational, a prestigious GolfWeek sanctioned senior amateur event featuring the top-ranked senior and super-senior amateurs in the country. The event began in 1990 as the “Single Digit Senior Invitational,” and was later renamed the “Westinghouse Senior Championship.” The 2009 edition hosted amateurs from 26 states. The club has also hosted numerous USGA qualifiers and PGA chapter and section events, including the 2008 Callaway Golf State Pro-Assistant event, which was previously hosted by the venerable TPC @ Sawgrass.
The in-season golf program features daily group games for both men and women, including Tuesday Men’s Day, Tuesday Two-Man, Wednesday Ladies' and Gentlemen Skins, Thursday Ladies' Day, Friday Men's Stableford, and Saturday Ladies' and Gentlemen Beat the Pro. Combine these activities with a tremendous Couples' Sunday Golf program, five major tournaments, eleven casual tournaments, instruction programs for beginner and advanced, and you get a comprehensive and fun golf experience. If you prefer, make your own foursome and enjoy golf your way.
Our year round golfing members enjoy a comprehensive reciprocal program during the summer, giving them the opportunity to experience many exceptional courses throughout this region.
And of course, your staff of PGA Professionals is always on call for anything you might need.
